The Penang Fashion Week 2025 returns from Oct 10 to 12 at Sunshine Central in Farlim here.

The theme this year is – “Beyond Boundaries, Infinite Fashion”. The showcase is organized and curated by Golden Goose Velvet Model & Performance Company.

Present to announce the event was Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai along with the organizers.

“Penang’s is not only rich in cultural and tourism heritage but also boldly declares its move toward the “fashion frontier.” It showcases local creativity and exquisite craftsmanship while opening up new frontiers in design.

“This event will bring together local designers, emerging Penang brands, and rising fashion talents to present a unique series of works that brilliantly fuse tradition and innovation, multiculturalism and the distinctive charm of Penang,” he said.

In addition, this year’s fashion week shines a spotlight on the Penang Nyonya Kebaya, which was inscribed in 2023 on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, paying tribute to Penang’s fashion heritage.

Wong emphasized that the Kebaya not only carries timeless aesthetic and craftsmanship value but also symbolizes the fusion and shared prosperity of regional cultures, allowing Penang to once again shine brightly on the international stage.

He added that the Kebaya was once the elegant attire of the Peranakan Chinese women in Penang and has now gained international recognition as a symbol of artistic craftsmanship, feminine grace and cultural confidence.

Its intricate embroidery and symbolically rich totem patterns are artistic masterpieces refined by time.
