Another of Penang’s homegrown events makes the international stage, this time around it is the Penang Digitalization Conference & Exhibition (PDX 2026)..
Present to announce further details on the event was Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai along with Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB), Chief Executive Officer, Ashwin Gunasekeran and PDX organising chairman, Lukas Tan held at the Olive Hotel here.
In his opening speech, Wong shared his excitement in seeing the growth of PDX and the participation of new partners.
“With the continued advancement of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, automation and data-driven technologies, many companies and factories around the world are urgently seeking to expand capacity, optimise processes and improve efficiency. This wave of technological transformation presents an important opportunity that Penang is well-positioned to seize.
“Penang has a strong industrial foundation, a mature supply chain ecosystem, and competitive niche industries. We firmly believe that against the backdrop of the continued expansion of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital technologies, Penang’s development foundation will remain strong, and its future prospects will continue to be bright.

“PDX2026 comes at a very important time as artificial intelligence, digitalisation, automation, cybersecurity, and future-ready technologies continue to transform the way we live, work, and do business. Across industries, we are seeing how digital tools and AI are no longer optional, but essential for productivity, competitiveness, innovation, and long-term growth.
“This year, PDX2026 is expected to welcome 100 and 20 speakers covering a wide range of topics related to Artificial Intelligence, digital transformation, future workforce, innovation, and business readiness,” he said.
He added that PDX2026 is expected to attract 10,000 attendees and more than 500 industry delegates. This reflects the growing interest and confidence in Penang as a destination where technology, business, talent, and collaboration can come together.
Ashwin meanwhile stressed the importance of homegrown events which have now attained international standing, participation and support.
“PDX 2026 will bring together representatives from the technology sector along with hgh value and high impact participants to the state,” he shared.
Tan also added that they initially planned for a one-day gathering but due to overwhelming support and demand they decided to host a two-day event at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre.
Among the foreign participants are from China, Singapore and Indonesia.
