Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow gave his endorsement for the inaugural 45th International Advertising Association (IAA) World Congress to be held in Penang.
With a theme of “Brand RE-CODE, for a Better World, Better Life”, the grand gathering will be held from March 6 to 8, 2024 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre.
Also present at the press conference held in Komtar was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai, John D Chacko, chairman of IAA World Congress 2024 and president of IAA Malaysia, Datin S. Barathi, general manager of Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI), Ashwin Gunasekeran, chief executive officer of Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB), sponsors and other stakeholders.
“The congress is expected to bring an Estimated Economic Impact of RM5.836 million for the state of Penang.
“A diverse crowd of 1,000 attendees across the globe are expected to attend the congress. The partners are industry giants like Google, Meta, WARC, ANA, Petal Ads by Huawei, iFLYTEK, Lions and SEEHER while media partners include BBC and Media Prima.
“As the global community converges in Penang, I encourage local businesses, brands and organisations from various industries such as manufacturing, semiconductor, healthcare, finance, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, real estate, and many more to seize the unique opportunity”, said Chow.
He also commended the effort of IAA organizers in forging a strategic alliance with HRDC.
In the meantime, Wong said that it is an honour for Penang to be selected as the host for the 45th IAA World Congress.
“We understand that it is a first in Southeast Asia and cities like New York and Beijing have hosted such gatherings. I also urge local companies and businesses to take part in this prestigious event”, he added.
Chacko explained that the organizers had gone to great lengths to bring the 45th IAA World Congress to Penang and thanked the state government for their support.
“I am sure that the stellar cast of international speakers and panel discussions will delve into the most pertinent issues facing brands and businesses in the area of marketing”, he added.
