In conjunction with the International Women’s Day, Penang Chief Minister YB Chow Kon Yeow continued his customary deed to hand flowers to traders and those doing their marketing at the Chowrasta Market this morning.
Accompanying him was the state assemblyman for Komtar, YB Teh Lai Heng and others.
International Women’s Day falls tomorrow March 8, 2022.
Along with the flowers, those doing their marketing and passerby also received a set of face masks and sanitizers.
“We have been continuing this tradition since early 2000 to continue to instill awareness on women’s rights. the struggle continues to create women’s rights.
“There are many still gender discriminating laws in the country which need to be amended and updated. This will grant them an avenue when they face domestic violence.
“The pandemic has also affected many B40 women and there is a need to provide them support to earn a living and earn additional income for their children.
“Pakatan celebrates its 15 years of administration in Penang tomorrow since March 8, 2008. We have seen the establishment of the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC) as a lead agency to advocate consciousness to help single mothers B40 women’s groups,” said Chow.
In ending, he also thanked everyone for giving them the support.
