In conjunction with International Women’s Day 2021, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow handed some 500 stalk of roses at the Chowrasta Market yesterday.
Many of the ladies who were doing their Sunday marketing were caught by surprise by the gesture.
It was a great way to start the day for them.
Chow added that women especially in Penang are facing new normal challenges during the Covid-19 period which has affected their jobs and income.
However, Chow said its heartening to see more and more women are learning news skills as entrepreneurs through online businesses.
He said Penang was third highest to record job losses after Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
