After a hiatus of two years, the Penang Bridge International Marathon 2022 (PBIM) is back.
The largest sporting event in the Northern Region will be held on December 11, 2022.
PBIM chairman YB Yeoh Soon Hin who is also the State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy said at a press conference that the participants for this year will be capped to 25,000.
However, those who have registered for the 2020 will automatically be registered for this year without any extra charge as a gesture of their support.
“For the past two years, the run had turned virtual, while the response was good, it is great to bring back the marathon with physical participation.
“The early bird registration has started April 4 and will end on April 30, 2022 for the first 5,000 participants regardless of categories and whichever comes first,” said Yeoh at a press conference at the Eastin Hotel here.
The race categories will be for the 42km (full marathon), 21km (half marathon) and 10km (Open/Junior).
Race kits will be sent out free all over Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
Foreign runners will also be welcomed pending clearance and approval from the immigration department criteria.
Among the sponsors include Versa, Malaysia’s leading wealth management mobile application, Queensbay Mall, Eastin Hotel, Brooks among others.
Also present was the Penang director for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Jonathan Freddy Bagang and Tourism Malaysia Northern Region director Shahrul Seman.
