The Penang State government will ensure that the livable conditions of the residents in the People’s Housing Projects (PPR) is well taken care.
State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo assured that living conditions will not be compromised.
“The livability in our Public Housing Schemes will never be compromised.
“On top of our stern assurance that there will be control on such unit sizes which is no less than 700 square feet and price which begins for Rent to Own to Low Cost (RM42,000), Low Medium cost (RM72,500) and various other Affordable Housing ranging from RM 150,000 to RM 300,000.
“To-date, we have reached some 67% of our target of 220,000 such units come 2030. We will ensure all housing projects, new or old will be livable, with many public facilities.
“We will also ensure all projects comply with our conditions to ensure there are public facilities for the good of the people. This includes our applications for PPR to the Federal Government whereby we have identified 5 plots with a size of 72.3 acres which we hope will be given due consideration with best standards,” added Jagdeep yesterday.
The assurance from the state government comes following The Star report yesterday to highlight that youths are experiencing social and mental issues being cramped in PPR housing projects Kuala Lumpur.
