The Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) hosted its memorial “Industry Networking Night” at the Cheah Kongsi which saw overwhelming response from stakeholders.
Some 150 guests from the hospitality, made up by general managers, sales personnel along with representatives from the tour and travel and related sectors were in full attendance.
Guest-of-honour was Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai.
He was greeted by PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran and his team.
Also present was Dato Khoo Boo Lim , Dato Tony Goh who coincidentally was newly conferred his Datoship recently, Datin S Bharathi representing CMI, Penang MATTA chairman, Ms Carolyn Leong, Ms Lisa Wong representing MAG were also seen mingling with guests.
In his address, Wong hailed the contributions of PCEB in bringing guests and clients from far and near to fill up hotel rooms, convention halls, food and beverage outlets and even the much popular hawker stalls in Penang.
“This is an occasion to foster connections, to share ideas and to collectively harness our combined strengths to unlock the full potential of Penang’s tourism industry.
“This event also provides me with an opportunity to establish connections with each of you and gain a profound understanding of the efforts dedicated to promoting Penang as a destination for business events,” said Wong.
He also shared that Qatar Airlines will resume its flights to the Penang International Airport on Oct 29, 2023 while Flydubai will .commence its flights to Penang in February 2024.
Earlier, Ashwin thanked all those who had taken their time to attend this networking session and cooperation and support towards all of PCEB’s events.
“I also wish to thank you for your role in making Penang the popular destination for business, leisure and travel,” added Ashwin.
Guests were treated to an array of Penang’s favourite dishes like Hokkein Mee, Char Koay Teow, Satay, Nasi Kandar, Roast Lamb, Ice Kacang among others.
