A high delegation team from the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) conducted a site inspection of the newly inaugurated Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City, an IHG Hotel.
The PCEB team which was led by its chief executive officer, Ashwin Gunasegeran, was warmly welcomed by the general manager of Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City, Rizwan Izham Zain and his team.
This visit marks a significant milestone in Penang’s hospitality sector and underscores the region’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its position as a premier destination for business events and tourism.
Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City, strategically located in the heart of Butterworth’s prime business district, represents a valuable addition to Penang’s hospitality infrastructure.
The hotel, which opened earlier this month, offers a seamless blend of comfort and breathtaking views overlooking the beautiful Penang Strait.
During the inspection, the PCEB team received a comprehensive tour of the property, with particular attention given to its extensive meeting and event facilities.
The hotel’s “crown jewel” is the Straits Ballroom, an impressive 653-square-meter space capable of accommodating up to 768 attendees in a theatre-style setting or 800 for cocktail events.
This versatile venue can also be partitioned into two equal sections of 326 square meters each, providing flexible options for various event sizes and formats.
In addition to the grand ballroom, the hotel boasts four well-equipped meeting rooms: Butterworth 1 and 2, and Bagan 1 and 2. Each of these rooms is designed to accommodate between 20 to 40 participants, depending on the seating arrangement.
The meeting facilities at Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City significantly enhance the region’s capacity to host a diverse range of events, from intimate board meetings to large-scale conferences. The hotel also features a 24-hour business and meeting center on level 9, providing round-the-clock support for business travelers and event organizers.
Beyond its meeting spaces, Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City impresses with its 343 exquisite guest rooms, an innovative 8th-floor sky lobby, and a stunning 23rd-floor pool offering panoramic views of the city and sea skyline. These amenities, coupled with the hotel’s Pan Asian restaurant, provide comprehensive support for event delegates and tourists alike.
The hotel’s proximity to Penang Sentral, just a 4-minute drive away, enhances its accessibility. Guests can reach the hotel via taxi, train, or ferry, with Penang Sentral serving as a convenient transportation hub.
The Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City stands as a testament to Penang’s progress in the hospitality sector, offering world-class facilities that will undoubtedly contribute to the state’s growing reputation as a top-tier destination for business and leisure travelers alike.
