Rajoo meeting people at restaurants and cafes
New candidate for the up-coming state elections for N16 Perai hopes to start tackle “bread and butter” issues in the constituency.
On day 11 of campaigning, Penang Hyperlocal joined the candidate for N16 Perai on his walkabout in his constituency.
The candidate Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu or Rajoo to friends was accompanied by supporters and volunteers meeting people in cafes, restaurants and business premises.
The walkabouts also helped Rajoo to learn more about the issues and problems faced by the residents and voters there.
“The campaign is going well, although starting early and sleeping late at 2am. I normally go for walkabouts in hawkers centres, markets, houses,
“Among the common grouses I hear are drainage, rats running due to dirty premises, poor toilet maintenance and public areas like parks and other public facilities.
“Overgrown grass has not been cut and maintained. Also there are pot holes, drains not covered and other things.
“If we do not maintain the parks, the leaves will go into the drains and they get clogged and result in mosquito breeding.
“I have a long list of issues to bring up with the local council so that they can overcome these problems,” he said.
He also added that among his walkabouts was to Kampong Manis which has a housing problem.
“Since I was a director in RAC and due to my background in the property industry, I hope to help these people who have been squatting on the land for more than 60-70 years,” said Rajoo.
