To further give assurance and confidence to visitors to the holiday island of Langkawi, four related parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
On hand to witness the ceremony was the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri at The Danna in Langkawi.
The parties involved are the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) and the Malaysian Aviation Group (MAG).
Representing MAH was their president Dato Paduka Subramaniam, Dato Tan Kok Liang represented MATTA and Francis Teo represented MACEOS. Also present was MAH Kedah / Perlis chairman Eugene Dass and Reginald T. Pereira.
Shukri called on all stakeholders to join the certification programmes through Travel Safe Alliance (TSA) which is certified by Bureau Veritas Certification Malaysia.
“We support all of the certification programmes which will give confidence and peace of mind for holiday makers. This will greatly help to revive the tourism industry,” she said.
In another latest development, Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakop made the long awaited announcement to allow interstate and international travel from tomorrow (Oct 11, 201) for all those who have received their double doses.
However, foreigners cannot come into the country as our borders are still closed.
