The Mercure Langkawi Pantai Cenang welcomes its new “general manager on mission”, Ms Vivian Chu.

She hails from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah where she started her early career at the  Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai. She later went on to graduate with a diploma from Kolej Damansara Utama in Hotel Management and also further studied at the Johnson & Wales University in the USA, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality & Meeting Management.

“I have honed my expertise in sales and marketing, coupled with a robust background in event management, to drive significant business growth. 

“My core competencies lie in crafting unforgettable customer experiences and spearheading high-profile events. At Accor, we are committed to excellence, and my mission aligns with our culture of innovation and exceptional service”, she said. 

Her appointment at the Mercure Langkawi Pantai Cenang took effect August 5, 2024.

Chu’s last posting was at the ibis Kuala Lumpur City Centre which boasts of 684 rooms. She had also worked in premier hotels and resorts in Brunei, Jakarta, Sandakan and also Malacca, , 

In her new role at Mercure Langkawi Pantai Cenang, she will oversee all aspects of sales, administration and operations at the hotel.

“My management style is to work together with the whole team and always like to get their ideas and input. If they are feasible, we will implement them. I also believe in teamwork and also empower women to encourage them in the industry”,she said to Penang Hyperlocal.

She is also a Rotarian and hopes to touch base with Rotary clubs here on the island. Since she is new to the island, she hopes to visit nearby hotels in the neighbourhood and get acquainted with the team there.

.”I think I describe myself as an outdoor person and Langkawi suits my personality. Here, I can go swimming,hiking, soft adventure and also enjoy wine, sunset cruises, beach activities, art and reading “, she shared. 

Chu is also passionate about charity work.
