Three Malaysian women stood out at the second edition of the Lazada Forward Women Awards 2022 held in conjunction with the International Women’s Day.
A total of 18 female entrepreneurs owning successful businesses on Lazada were recognised across seven award categories.
This year, there were a total of seven award categories, as Creative, Enterprising and Inspiring categories made a comeback, with the addition of Rising Star, Bricks to Clicks Tech Adopter, Social Star and the most prestigious Lazada Forward Woman of the Year Award.
Top honours – the Lazada Forward Woman of the Year Award – were conferred to six sellers from each of the territories Lazada operates in.
The award categories demonstrate the resilience and can-do spirit of female business owners pursuing and realising their entrepreneurial vision. Beyond achieving economic success, they are also role models, contributing back and creating impact within their local communities.
The winning Malaysians were – Kong Wai Theng (Big Care Mart) for the Lazada Forward Woman of the Year Award (Malaysia), Pang Jie Hui runner-up (Healthy Baker) for the Bricks to Clicks Tech Adopter Award category and Nurul Izzan Zamzuri (Niz Craft) for the Creative award.
Raymond Yang, Chief Operating Officer of Lazada Group, said:
“It is incredible to witness the remarkable achievements of female sellers across Southeast Asia’s digital commerce ecosystem. Our Lazada sellers have continued to innovate and adapt their businesses to the eCommerce environment, cater to their customers and enhance product offerings. We are proud to journey alongside these winners and create a world that is diverse and inclusive.”
Winner of the Lazada Forward Woman of The Year (Malaysia) award, Kong Wai Theng said
“I am grateful to have been recognised at this year’s Lazada Forward Women Awards. After experiencing first-hand the positive impact of digitalising my business in 2017, I am now an advocate for eCommerce. I highly encourage other entrepreneurs to expand their businesses online. For all aspiring business women out there, continue to look for opportunities and ways to overcome challenges. When we continuously improve ourselves, success will be within our reach.”
Echoing the same sentiments, Nurul Izzan Zamzuri, winner of the Creative award, said,
“For anyone thinking about starting their own business, it is important to do research and find out about the product’s demand or prospects. If it’s the right product, have faith that other like-minded people will be interested in what you are offering. Muster up the courage to take the leap and commit 100% to make your business dream a reality.”
The awards ceremony was held at Lazada’s flagship office and Singapore headquarters, Lazada One, and broadcasted on the LazLive channel in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
It spotlighted the achievements of the award recipients that have found their business niche, challenged social norms and grew the success of their businesses through the Lazada platform.
The Awards also featured guest performances by sound artist Welsh, singer-songwriter Aisyah Aziz and alternative rock and shoegaze band, Coming up Roses.
