Penang State Exco for Tourism & Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai led a line-up of tourism players at the launch of the Discover Penang MyTQA stamp collection journey program held at The Top here earlier.

Also present was Dr Annuar Mohamed, Penang MOTAC Director, Penang Global Tourism (PGT) CEO,  Ooi Chok Yan, Abdul Hadi Che Man,  Tourism Malaysia Northern Region, Dato Tony Goh Penang MAH chairman among others.

Wong expressed his pleasure to be at the launch ceremony of the “Discover Penang: MyTQA Stamp Collection Journey”, an exciting new initiative by Penang Global Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and Tourism Malaysia.

He explained that the Malaysia Tourism Quality Assurance, or MyTQA, is a national initiative aimed at enhancing service standards and elevating the quality of tourism products across Malaysia. It serves as a mark of trust and recognition, assuring visitors that they are experiencing tourism offerings that meet high standards of excellence.

“Today, we are proud to bring this initiative to life in Penang through a campaign that transforms quality certification into a meaningful and engaging visitor journey. Running from 5 May to 30 November 2026, this campaign invites visitors to explore Penang through a curated network of 10 MyTQA-certified attractions, spanning both the island and mainland.

“From nature and culture to immersive and family-friendly experiences, each attraction offers something unique, encouraging visitors to discover Penang in a deeper and more meaningful way. Through this campaign, visitors can collect specially designed stamps at each participating attraction, turning exploration into an interactive experience.

“With the purchase of an admission ticket at any participating attraction, visitors will receive a special edition booklet and exclusive gifts, while stocks last.

“Those who complete the full stamp collection will be rewarded with exclusive Visit Malaysia 2026 commemorative merchandise, sponsored by Tourism Malaysia, a meaningful keepsake of their journey through Penang.

This initiative is supported by industry players like The Habitat Penang Hill, Entopia, The TOP Penang, Ghost Museum Penang, Edgecliff Gallery @ Penang Hill, Kampung Agong, Wonderfood Museum, D’8000 Mini Golf Café, Bertam Resort & Water Park Penang, and Queensbay Mall.

“More importantly, this campaign is not just about stamps, it is about strengthening Penang’s position as a quality-driven tourism destination. It aims to:

  • Elevate the visibility of MyTQA-certified products 
  • Build greater visitor confidence 
  • Encourage exploration across multiple destinations 
  • Enhance engagement and repeat visits 
  • Strengthen industry collaboration 
  • And generate valuable visitor insights for future growth 

Meanwhile, Dr Annuar said that the Malaysia Tourism Quality Assurance (MyTQA) is an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) to enhance the services and quality of
facilities provided among tourism products in Malaysia. It is a recognition towards tourism products, hence provides exposure to industry players to prioritize the quality of services.

“Among the objectives of MyTQA are to to establish an accreditation/ certification program as a reference mechanism for domestic and international tourists regarding the quality of tourism products in Malaysia. To cultivate a culture of prioritizing quality tourism products continuously among tourism sector operators. To improve the quality of tourism products in Malaysia and the standards of
services offered. To boost tourists’ confidence in tourism products that have been recognized by MOTAC as MyTQA certified.According to the MOTAC MyTQA guidelines,
