Langkawi is preparing to welcome foreign holiday-makers soon.
In line with this initiative, the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) has come up with several standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Among them include having the foreign tourists take the RT-PCR test 72- hours before arrival and later another TR-PCR test at the hotel of their booking.
LADA chief executive officer, Nasaruddin Abdul Muttalib said that the proposals have been submitted to the National Security Council and the Ministry of Health for their further consideration.
“Once the foreign holiday makers have stayed here for more than three days, they will also be allowed to visit other parts of the country,” said Nasaruddin to media members recently.
The new initiative follows the travel bubble for locals with two doses to travel to Langkawi wef Sept 16, 2021 and the subsequent interstate travel allowed by the government from Oct 11, 2021.
In the meantime, Malaysian Association of Hotels ( MAH Kedah / Perlis) Chapter chairman Eugene Dass welcomed the move as it will definitely help the hospitality industry in Langkawi recover.
“Most of the hotels have spent a lot of money on safety equipment and training to ensure the safety and health of the visitors and holiday makers to Langkawi.
“Having foreigners come to Langakwi is a positive way forward towards recovery of the industry,” said Dass to Penang Hyperlocal.
