The Hin Bus Depot was a hive of activity as more than 500 members from the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) members gathered for a day of fellowship and goodwill.
Lending support was State Exco for Domestic and International Trade, Consumer Affairs and Entrepreneurship Development, Dato Abdul Halim Hussain along with Penang State Director for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Jonathan Freddy Bagang.
Also present was the president of KDCA Penang chapter, Dominic Sandungan.
“I am happy for all of you in this gathering which is possible after the pandemic. This event serves to preserve and showcase the culture and tradition of the community, not forgetting the diverse culture in our country.
“I understand there are some 3,000 residents in Penang now. Most of them are employed at the Electronic and Electrical (E&E) companies here. Thank you for your contribution to the economy of the Penang state,” said Abdul Halim.
He also added that those who had served in Penang for more than five years, will be eligible to own their own homes here.
He later toured the various booths which displayed handicraft, food, beverages, art work, clothes and other trinkets.
Guests were also entertained to the various traditional music and dance from the Borneo island.
KDCA hopes to preserve, and develop their unique cultural heritage as foundation for on-going sustainable socio-cultural, spiritual, economic and political development.
