Behold the impressive facade of the up-coming and new 298-room Iconic Marjorie Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel slated to open in June 2024.
This is following a franchise agreement signed with Marriott International for their new 5-star hotel located in Sg Nibong here.
With this remarkable development for the home-grown hospitality brand, the Iconic Hotel achieved another milestone to their position as a leading hotel group in Penang.
On hand to grace the ceremony was Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai, State Exco for Housing and Environment YB Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu among others.
Representing the Iconic group was their chairman Dato Seri Tan Kean Tet, executive directors, James Tan, Jason Chung and Ms Katherine Tan along with general manager Kevin Cheah.
Meanwhile, Marriott International was represented by Kevin Chen who signed the agreement witnessed by YAB Chow Kon Yeow.
In his address, Chow hailed the new partnership and hailed the new era for tourism and hospitality in Penang.
“What excites me further is the fusion of Penang’s vibrant Peranakan culture with contemporary design in the blueprint of Iconic Marjorie.
“Considering the Marriott brand is a global force in the luxury hotel industry, I believe its expanding presence here is a testament to Penang’s position as Malaysia’s primary tourism gateaway,” added Chow in his address.
Earlier, Wong also welcomed the agreement signing between Marriott International and Iconic Penang Sdn Bhd to elevate the hospitality industry in the state.
“This partnership represents a significant opportunity for us to infuse Penang’s hospitality industry with the globally acclaimed standards upheld by Marjorie, thereby enhancing Penang’s standing on a global tourism stage,” said Wong.
The RM180 million hotel will also have an all-day dining facility, ballroom to accommodate 850 guests, meeting rooms, swimming pool, bar and other facilities.
