Taiwan based Hotayi Electronic (M) Sdn Bhd has launched its second plant in Batu Kawan, Penang recently.
The plant called “Hotayi BK2” is being built with an investment of RM300 million.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow praised the firm for its foresight and confidence to expand in Penang.
“The new plant will be smart, green and nature-friendly and will offer some 600 high value employment opportunities for the people of Penang,” said Chow.
He later joined hands with the Hotayi chairman Datuk Seri Lee Hung Lung to perform the groundbreaking ceremony.
Lee thanked the state government for making the expansion project a reality.
“Despite the growing concerns and uncertainties due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the decision to expand was a tribute to the hard work of everyone,” said Lee in his address.
