As 2024 comes to an end, The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi kicks off The Festive Soiree and their magical Christmas and New Year’s offerings with an exciting bar takeover by Himkok Storgata Destilleri, who was recently crowned #11 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024. 

A pioneer of Scandinavia’s cocktail scene, the much lauded Norwegian bar has been on The World’s 50 Best Bars list for the past seven years, and was also awarded the inaugural Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award in 2018.

Travelers looking for a year-end holiday in Langkawi need look no further, with the chance to experience an authentic taste of Norway through four fantastic tipples, presented by Bar Director, Maros Dzurus and Head of Research & Development, Paul Aguilar. 

With Himkok’s philosophy of championing Norwegian produce, the duo bring Rhubarb, Gooseberry, Sage and Carrot Cake, with one night at Horizon, the resort’s popular adults-only overwater bar and The Beach Grill, the family-friendly open-air bar and restaurant whose iconic ‘Bubu’ architecture and culinary offerings make it a guest favorite.

Guests will also have the chance to get hands-on and learn from these masters of mixology, with an exclusive masterclass with Maros and Paul at Horizon on 8 December, with the dramatic panorama of the Andaman Sea as the backdrop to an unforgettable event.

Rhubarb – Inspired by Scandinavian summers, this cocktail blends sweet, fruity, and sour notes through its use of Havana Club 3 Anos, Tio Pepe Fino Sherry and rhubarb cordial, celebrating Norway’s botanical richness. This is the perfect cocktail for a tropical collaboration with The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, as the everlasting summer weather in Langkawi meets the Northern Hemisphere.

Gooseberry – The delicate flavors of Norwegian elderflower and gooseberry wine blend with Altos Blanco and the rich florals of Italicus, in this refreshing cocktail, garnished with pickled plum.

Sage – Norway’s untamed beauty meets Langkawi’s tropical zest, offering a vibrant blend of Scandinavian wildness and island charm in this effervescent and herbal blend of Himkok gin, Timur cordial, brewed ginger, fresh sage and soda water.

Carrot Cake – The nostalgic flavors of a cherished dessert come alive through this cocktail, which delivers a rich and indulgent experience that delights the palate that captures the spirit of ‘kos’, a Norwegian word that represents warmth, community and nature’s simplicity. This velvety and creamy cocktail incorporates Jack Daniels Bonded, Dolin Blanc, unsalted butter, dehydrated carrot and a touch of Philadelphia cream, to create a visual and sensory delight.

The masterclass is happening from 3.00pm – 5.00pm on 8 December, priced at MYR 180 per person, inclusive of one drink. Advance reservations are highly encouraged.
