they were welcomed by Hunza Group Executive Director Ms Khor Tze Ming and Ms Koay Bee Fong along with members of the mall’s management team.

Earlier in his speech, Abdul Hadi commended Gurney Paragon Mall for its continued role in enriching Penang’s tourism and lifestyle landscape.

He noted that campaigns such as this demonstrate how retail spaces can go beyond shopping, transforming into vibrant platforms for cultural appreciation, community engagement and memorable festive experiences for both locals and visitors.

“Hari Raya Aidilfitri is one of Malaysia’s most meaningful celebrations. It reflects the spirit of gratitude, forgiveness and togetherness, bringing families and communities closer after the holy month of Ramadan.

“Through ‘Raya Bersulam Batik’ here at Gurney Paragon Mall, we see these values beautifully expressed through culture and heritage.

“The choice of batik as the central theme is particularly meaningful. Batik represents Malaysian artistry, tradition and identity. Its intricate patterns reflect the creativity of our people and the beauty of our cultural heritage. Celebrating batik in a festive setting like this not only enhances the festive atmosphere but also showcases an important part of Malaysian culture to visitors.

“From the perspective of Tourism Malaysia, initiatives like this are especially timely as we celebrate Visit Malaysia Year 2026, our national campaign aimed at positioning Malaysia as a leading global travel destination,” he said.

Following the launch ceremony, guests were treated to a breaking-of-fast session at the mall’s food court before departing for the evening.

Kudos to Gurney Paragon Mall for hosting a colourful celebration while extending a meaningful gesture of charity.
