State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai paid a visit to the Thaipusam festivities along Waterfall temple earlier today.
He also visited the Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau panthal (stall) and was greeted by PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran and his team.
This is the very first time PCEB is setting up a panthal since its inception as it also marks their 10tg anniversary.
Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow along with other exco members and leaders were also among the visitors to the waterfall temple.
The panthal served food and drinks for the thousands of devotees and visitors who converged at the celebration.
Thaipusam celebrations in Penang not only attract devotees from neighbouring states but also devotees from Indonesia and Singapore.
Hotels and resorts in the vicinity enjoy brisk business during Thaipusam season too.
Tomorrow will see the two chariots leaving the waterfall temple on its return journey to Sri Maha Mariamman Temple.
Thousands of devotees are expected to line the streets and offer prayers.
