Flood mitigation work at Jalan P. Ramlee is in the final stages.
This is surely good news for residents in the area.
State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo was on hand at the site to carry out the final inspection and its progress.
The area has seen constant floods over the years and to overcome the hardship of residents, the final stage at a cost of RM413,550 is currently underway.
The project is undertaken by the Penang Island City Council.
Also present at the site visit was Member of Parliament for Jelutong, YB RSN Rayer and MBPP secretary A. Rajendran and their team.
Jagdeep added that the project involves the widening of the drains from 0.6 metres to 1.8 metres from Jalan P. Ramlee to Jalan Terengganu.
Other work includes the upgrading of the drainage system, road level raising works, construction of two pump houses among others.
“We hope that by the end of these projects the hardship of residents here will be solved,” added Jagdeep.
