A webinar session moderated by former deputy tourism, arts, culture and heritage minister Datuk Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik recently revealed that European and American travellers are keen to travel to the Asia Pacific region.
According to TripAdvisor’s head of destination marketing for the Asia Pacific region, Sarah Mathews, some 70% of them are keen to travel.
“As such Malaysia can take advantage of returning European and American travellers by promoting it as a nation that has implemented stringent measures to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.
“They have started to plan and many have begun touring now despite concerns on the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Mathews.
She also added that presently, domestic tourism is currently leading the way in Europe and the Americas.
“This is because the Asia Pacific region is still faced with uncertainties due to the on and off lockdown measures and other government policies.
“But despite the scare, people who have taken the vaccines are eager to travel. Other than for leisure, many people want to get away for their physical and mental wellbeing,” she said.
