In conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations and the Year of the Horse, Eastin Hotel Penang carried out a meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) visit to Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-Anak OKU Taman Island Glades, Penang, bringing festive cheer, heartfelt engagement and tangible support to the children and caretakers of the home.

A delegation team member from Eastin was warmly welcomed by the centre, which is home to 26 children with special needs, cared for by four dedicated caretakers. They were  led by Ms Choo Chan Chan, Director of Sales & Marketing.

Organised with the intention of sharing the joy of the festive season, the initiative also sought to foster genuine human connection that extended beyond material contributions.

The celebration began with a traditional Yee Sang tossing ceremony, symbolising prosperity, harmony, and collective hopes for the year ahead, followed by a cake-cutting session that reflected the spirit of togetherness and shared celebration. These symbolic traditions set a joyful tone for the day, allowing residents, caretakers and Eastin team members to celebrate side by side in a warm and inclusive atmosphere. To further encourage meaningful interaction, a series of interactive games and engagement
activities were conducted, thoughtfully adapted to ensure inclusivity and active participation.

In keeping with Chinese New Year customs, the children received mandarin oranges and ang pow, symbolising blessings of good fortune and prosperity. Lunch bento boxes were also provided for all residents and caretakers, allowing everyone to enjoy a festive meal together. In addition, essential groceries and festive goody bags were also presented to the home, offering practical support.

Adding to the festive atmosphere were special appearances by the God of Prosperity and a clown creating colourful balloon art, delighting the children and filling the centre with cheer and laughter. These joyful moments brought a sense of wonder and happiness, leaving a lasting impression on the residents and making the celebration all the more memorable. The visit concluded with a group photo session, capturing the warmth, joy, and togetherness shared between the children, caretakers, and the Eastin team.

Commenting on the initiative, Ms Winnie Suzan Yip, Hotel Manager of Eastin shared, “Chinese New Year is a time of togetherness, kindness, and sharing blessings. We believe our role goes beyond hospitality to being present for the community. Spending time with the children and caretakers, celebrating traditions, and sharing moments of joy has been truly meaningful for our team, and we hope it brought smiles and a sense of being valued.”

“This CSR initiative reflects Eastin’s ongoing dedication to community engagement and social responsibility, extending its role beyond hospitality to positively impact the lives of those within the local community.

“Through personal interaction, festive celebration, and thoughtful contributions, the hotel aims to create meaningful experiences that resonate long after the event has concluded. Eastin also extends its sincere gratitude to Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-Anak OKU Taman Island Glades for their warm welcome and cooperation, and remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote care, inclusion, and shared celebration,” she added.
