Celebrating our differences is one way to understand and forge unity among the various races in our country.
With the “festival of lights” just around the corner, the Penang State Government arranged a lighting ceremony to usher in Deepavali at Padang Kota.
On hand was Penang Deputy Chief Minister Professor P. Ramasamy, State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau CEO Ashwin Gunasekeran and CEO of Penang Global Tourism (PGT) Ooi Chok Yan.
They joined hands to perform a symbolic lighting ceremony.
“Although we have progressed to Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan, we must still follow the necessary SOPs.
“We will also celebrate other festivals like the Chinese New Year and Hari Raya,” said Yeoh.
Meanwhile, Prof Ramasamy reminded all to follow the necessary SOPs to keep the virus at bay.
“This is more so as interstate travel is allowed and an influx of people from other states. “Although we still cannot hold open houses, we can celebrate with the whole family,” he added.
