Playing their role as a caring corporate citizen, the G Hotel Gurney contributed RM1,600 towards the Family Hope Welfare Association.
A mock cheque to this amount was presented to the representatives of the home.
Representing the Family Hope Welfare Association was Ms Agnes Pragasam and Timothy Finian, both Secretary and Advisor of the association.
On hand to present the mock cheque was G Hotel Gurney general manager, Michael Hanratty and their top management team.
The proceeds were raised through the sale of “Covid Vaccinated” pins to the general public.
Initially, G Hotel made the Covid Vaccinated pins available to just staff, as an effort in informing the guest that they are being served by staff who are fully vaccinated.
This is done in keeping guests safe and worry-free when staying or dining in. But due to the requests from the public, G Hotel made the pins available at RM10/pc and all proceeds including the cost of pins will be donated to the Family Hope Welfare Association.
The response was amazing with support from everywhere pouring that G Hotel managed to sell all the pins.
“This cash donation will be of great help this Christmas and New Year. The money will be used for getting uniforms, Christmas presents for around 50 children ranging from the age of 2 to 20 years old, medical expenses and groceries,” said Agnes.
The Family Hope Welfare Association is an independent welfare organisation founded in 2010 and its office is located in the Caring Society Complex on Jalan Utama.
They help single mothers and widows, families and also provide aid to needy families, patients and the disabled from all races. On average, they help 15 to 20 families with housing, groceries, cash reliefs, rents, milk formulas, diapers and medications amounting to an expenditure of RM3000 to RM4000 per month. Its services are free and they depend on contributions from the public.
Meanwhile, Michael Hanratty said the contribution was part of the hotel’s Charity Event in contributing to the local communities in need of basic essentials to survive. As hotel business continues to increase, the intrinsic value of our service and guest satisfaction will continue to expand through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Syabas to G Hotel Penang who despite the pandemic and the hospitality industry being hard hit, they still managed to carry out this commendable CSR project.
