Staff and patients at the Penang General Hospital were pleasantly surprised when they were presented with Deepavali goody bags.

Deepavali falls tomorrow Thursday, Nov 4, 2021.

Making his presence was Penang State Exco for Housing, Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo to hand over the goody bags.

“We would like to show our appreciation to the nurses and doctors who have tirelessly fought the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic for almost two years.

“Meanwhile, we are happy to note that most of our city council workers have been vaccinated with only 22 from Penang City Council and 18 from Seberang Perai City Council not vaccinated. This maybe due to medical  reasons.

“Nevertheless, I still remind everyone to follow the SOPS to ensure the safety and health of everyone,” said Jagdeep.

Meanwhile, a total of 500 bags were prepared by Malaysia Hindu dharma Marmandram (Penang chapter). Each bag contained traditional cookies like mixture and seasonal sweets.

Also in attendance was the NGOs chairman, Thanabalan Nanda Kumar along with vice chairman, A. Krishnan, Secretary, S.Sugumaran and committee member SV. Manimaran.

Also present was the deputy director of Penang GH Tuan Ibrahim.

“We want to thank the many generous contributions to make the event possible which were made by well-wishers and supporters.

“Several state exco members including YB Jagdeep contributed to the success of this event. Last week, we had also presented such goodies to the Penang Prison and also at the Jawi Prison,” added Thanabalan.
