Aid amounting to some RM8.48 million has been distributed to all places of worship including other than Islam.
The assistance makes up 100 Chinese Temples, 53 Indian Temples, 39 Churches and 10 Gurdwaras.
In view of the up coming Christmas celebrations, State exco for Local Government, Housing, Town and City Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo presented RM50,000 for the St Paul’s Church in Bukit Tengah under this fund for their renovation works after the unfortunate break-in in August this year.
The incident resulted in many of the Church items were stolen.
“We will continue to assist those eligible under this fund. Wishing all those celebrating, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Stay safe and healthy during the festivities,” said Jagdeep.
He is also expressed his happiness to note that the suggestion by the Church that they are discussing plans to become one of the first Eco Churches in Penang.
“The move is in line with our Greener, Smarter, Family Focused agenda,” he added.
