The Penang Street Food Festival which was held in Bangkok city earlier today received overwhelming response.
It was held at the Old Siam Plaza, Tri Phet Road, Wang Burapa Phirom, Bangkok from 11am to 6pm.
More than 800 locals and tourists alike gathered to savour the favourite Penang dishes.
On hand to launch the festival was Malaysian ambassador to Thailand, Datuk Jojie Samuel
Due to popular demand by locals, the Penang Street Food Festival was organized for the second year and saw support of tourists from all over the world.
The festival was brought together by Kelab Malaysia of Thailand and supported by the Embassy of Malaysia in Thailand.
As in previous years, the event will showcase popular Penang street food, cultural performances, cooking demonstrations and other activities. There will also be a dining area for visitors and customers to enjoy their food.
Among the popular Penang food showcased was Char Kway Teow, Nasi Kandar, Pasembor, Assam Laksa, Mee Goreng Mamak, Kari Mee, Hokkein Mee, Nasi Lemak, Roti Canai, Rojak, Popiah, Karipap, Kueh Seri Muka among others. As for the drinks, Cendol, Teh Tarik and Sirap Bandung are popular beverages.
Malaysian handicrafts and food ingredients are also well received by locals and other visitors. Lending support was well-known food ambassador, Pearly Kee.
