in keeping with the Penang state government’s policy of inclusiveness, they support all cultures, traditions and practices.
One of the up-coming events is the live concert of Pradeep Kumar from South India on Jan 21, 2023 at the SPICE Arena.
Present at a press conference in Komtar to announce the concert was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin along with Penang Deputy Chief Minister Prof P. Ramasamy and Chief Minister of Penang Incorporated general manager, Ms S. Bharathi.
“We are thrilled to announce that the world renowned singer, Pradeep Kumar from India, will be performing live in Penang for an unforgettable night of music and entertainment. This concert will be a true spectacle, with Pradeep Kumar taking the stage and performing his biggest hits. I have been working closely with Aakaar Foundation to ensure that this concert will be an experience like no other, with state-of-the-art sound and lighting, and a spectacular stage design that will leave you breathless.
“In addition to that, we are also excited to announce that our local artists will be joining Pradeep Kumar on stage as well, and they’re the National Symphony Orchestra and KTB Parai. They will be bringing their unique style and energy to this concert side by side with the internationally well-known artist,” said Yeoh in his address.
The performer has been receiving lots of awards from Kerala State Film Awards, Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards, Filmfare Awards South, South Indian International Movie Awards, Vijay Awards, Norway Tamil Film Festival Awards and Behindwoods Gold Medal.
“Concerts such as this can help the tourism industry by bringing visitors from out of the city who come to witness local or international performances or artists. This can lead to increased hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and other tourism-related activities. Besides, concerts can also attract people to a particular area and lead to an increase in the local economy.
“This concert also shows that Penang has the infrastructure and venues necessary to support large events. Penang is a popular cultural hub and has a vibrant arts scene, making us an attractive place for international musicians and performers to tour,” added Yeoh.
In this context, the Indian market has always been a key focus area for the Penang State Government.
“We have always been embarking on various promotional trips to India with the aim to reconnect and revive the tourism and business events industry in Penang and India. Due to the fact that there is always a demand for direct flights between major cities in India and Penang, I have been trying to expand our outreach and connectivity with them.
“We have done several Roadshow India to exchange ideas, network and share the success of business events and the tourism industry in Penang to entice more investors into our state,” added Yeoh in his address.
