Mark this date, Saturday, October 12, 2024 – another round of pure retro music awaits you at the W Plus Club (formerly Carmen Club) @ the Bayview Hotel Georgetown dubbed “Club Roots” second edition.
The Club Roots programme on the LITE Drive with Phat Fabes is aimed at revisiting the Iconic Nightclubs of the 80’s and 90’s era.
Several deejays from that golden retro era will bring you down memory lane with their beats and music.
Showcasing their talents will be DJ Wú (LiteFM), Phat Fabes (LiteFM), DJ Vicky Vanoli (Cinta, Pg), DJ RF (The Study, Pg), DJ James Naras (Borsalino & The Study, Pg), DJ Johnny Kam (Hollywood East, Pg) and DJ Raj (Carmen’s, Pg) this time around.

As for Phat Fabes, he is a renowned DJ and radio personality, who brings his passion for music and culture to the airwaves, creating an engaging and unforgettable listening experience. This is LITE FM’s regular segment happening on weekdays only from 3pm to 8pm.
Another event organiser cum deejay, is DJ RF who started deejaying in the mid 80s with Juliana’s of London outlets across the country.
His gigs had taken him to the Epitome Disco in PJ Hilton, Tin Mine, Club Oz, Hot Gossip in Kuala Lumpur, Palm Groove in Ipoh, Music Room, Cinta, The Study in Penang, Diana’s in Bangkok, Hot Gossip in Hong Kong to name a few.
Meanwhile, the gathering will also offer a perfect opportunity for fans of the retro era to meet up and also those deejays who had performed during the bygone era.
Showtime is from 8pm with every deejay performing for an hour each. They will be playing retro numbers from the 80’s and 90’s to bring you down memory lane.
The first edition of Club Roots was held in Kuala Lumpur last month. They featured deejays from the Tin Mine, DV8, Faces and 11 LA.
Among them were Phat Fabes (LiteFM), DJ Tina (Blue Moon, KL), DJ Robert Mah (Faces, KL), DJ Bernie (DV8, PJ), DJ RF (Tin Mine, KL), DJ Rohan (Alibi, KL)) and DJ OJ (Betelnut, KL).
As for the Penang retro gig, guests from Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore are also expected to attend the retro fest.
There is no “cover charge” for patrons on the night. The event is also supported by Penang Hyperlocal in terms of advertorials.
