The Ascott Gurney Penang welcomes its new general manager – Chan Kuok-Pin.

Chan is probably among the youngest general managers in the city as he is only 37-years-old.

Do not be fooled by his “baby face” looks as he had served in several premier hotels in various capacities before rising up the ranks.

His experience in the hospitality industry includes stints at the Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur, Tanjong Jara Resort, JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur, Vistana, Kuala Lumpur, the former Vistana Hotel Penang, Gaya Island Resort, AC Hotel Penang by Marriott and Travelodge Ipoh to name a few.

He was also part of the pre-opening teams at the Travelodge Honmachi Osaka and Travelodge Kyoto in Japan.

His experience in the Front Office Department, Housekeeping, Sales Department and Management roles as the Hotel manager and Executive Assistant Manager has helped him become an all-round hotelier.

He holds a Diploma in Hospitality and Hotel Management from the KDU College here. He started his career in 2009 and worked his way up to senior management positions.

He is a result oriented individual and also possesses excellent leadership skills and customer relations attributes.

“I am always open to new ideas and believe in diversity along with teamwork”, says Chan to Penang Hyperlocal.

He hails from Selangor and likes to unwind after a long day by singing his favourite songs from the rock genre.

Chan is also into swimming and building animation figurines..

His favourite holiday destination is Japan where he has been to more than seven times!

Penang Hyperlocal congratulates Chan and wishes him all the best in his endeavours
