The inaugural AUTOMEX Penang, Malaysia’s premier exhibition for automation and manufacturing technology, will be held from 4–6 November 2025 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, marking a significant expansion of the event beyond its Kuala Lumpur roots.

The event was formally announced during a press conference in Komtar, officiated by Penang Deputy Chief Minister II, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo, alongside Andrew Chan, Executive Director of the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA), Johnson Tan, President of the Malaysia Automation Technology Association (MATA), and Geonice Chong, Deputy Event Director of AUTOMEX Penang. Also lending strong industry support was Dato’ Sri Wong Siew Hai, President of MSIA.

In his remarks, YB Jagdeep welcomed AUTOMEX’s arrival in Penang, emphasizing the event’s potential to attract investment and boost the state’s industrial prominence.

“We welcome this event as it brings new opportunities and holds the potential to attract more investors to Penang. Despite being one of Malaysia’s smallest states, we contribute approximately 8% of global semiconductor output,” he said.

He also hailed Penang attracting RM12.5 Billion in the first half of 2025 alone representing a 150 per cent year-on-year increase.

Expected to host over 300 exhibitors and attract more than 5,000 trade visitors, AUTOMEX Penang will also feature international participation from China, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan.

This strategic move marks a major milestone in AUTOMEX’s 14-year history of co-location with METALTECH in Kuala Lumpur. With nearly three decades of advancing industrial innovation in Malaysia, AUTOMEX is now aligning its focus with Penang — a leading manufacturing and technology hub in Southeast Asia.

Widely regarded as the Silicon Valley of the East, Penang is home to over 300 multinational corporations and thousands of SMEs within the electrical and electronics (E&E) and manufacturing sectors. AUTOMEX Penang will cater directly to this thriving ecosystem, spotlighting the next wave of industrial transformation.

The 2025 edition will showcase state-of-the-art solutions in:Industrial automation, Next-generation robotics, Artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Precision CNC machinery and Sustainable manufacturing technologies

A key highlight of AUTOMEX Penang 2025 is its strategic partnership with the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA). The event will co-host the Silicon Malaysia Forum (formerly the National E&E Forum), convening global leaders and innovators to explore the future of the semiconductor industry. This collaboration aims to deepen technological integration and drive value-chain innovation across Malaysia’s high-tech sectors.

With its well-established position in outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) services and a strong base of global tech companies, Penang continues to play acritical role in the international supply chain. AUTOMEX Penang will reinforce the state’s position as Malaysia’s industrial engine and a regional powerhouse for advanced manufacturing.
