The Association of Tourism Attractions Penang (ATAP) hosted a “Meet & Greet Dinner” to welcome newly appointed State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai.
ATAP chairman Dato Ch’ng Huck Theng, organising committee and members turned up in full force for the fine evening.
The gathering was held at the St Giles Wembley Hotel.
In his opening remarks, Wong stressed the importance of the tourism industry towards the economy of the state.
“I also want to thank the members of ATAP for taking time to organise this fine evening to get to know their members,” added Wong.
He later went from table to table to personality meet and greet each ATAP member or their representative.
Meanwhile, Ch”ng hailed the appointment of Wong as a new beginning of the Penang Tourism chapter.
“We welcome the new Penang Exco for Tourism & Creative Economy. He might be a new face in the tourism industry but definitely an experienced one as he was a Penang Exco Member and also a Member of Parliament before.
“Many of us that are still here and are grateful that the Covid-19 crisis is over and the economy is picking up.
“ATAP will work very closely with the Penang State Government especially with YB Wong’s office to further promote the Penang tourism industry, advocate and support YB’s leadership in steering the industry into yet another milestone making Penang the state to be envied by all other states in Malaysia,” added Ch’ng.
He also shared that ATAP welcomes all suggestions and even constructive criticisms that can help in progressing the Penang tourism industry.
Lending support to the evening was Dato Khoo Boo Lim (MAH National vice president), Tony Goh (MAH Penang Chapter chairman), Ashwin Gunasekeran (CEO PCEB), Ooi Chok Yan ( CEO PGT), Mary Ann Harris ( Executive Director P.MED), Carolyn Leong (Penang MATTA chairman) among other stakeholders.
