Newly launched “AirAsia Ride” hopes to offer the cheapest e-hailing fare for consumers in Penang.
On hand to launch the new service was Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow along with Lim Chiew Shan (chief executive officer of airasia ride Malaysia), Lim Ben-Jie (Head of Delivery e-Commerce for airasia Super App and Ken Tan Penang airasia chief at Komtar today.
Other than offering job opportunities for locals, they also hope to give back more commission for the drivers in the range of 85% from the fare.
“On behalf of the Penang state government, I welcome airasia ride with open arms as it offers a competitive alternative for tourists and Penangites to commute around the island with assured safety and security.
“I understand that there are also unique options for driver selection, which includes choosing airasia pilots, cabin crew, female drivers and quiet rides provided by OKU drivers. This is unique to ensure continued employment,” said Chow.
He also added that the road to recovery requires collaborative effort of all stakeholders and industry players to succeed.
All of the drivers are fully vaccinated and will be tested regularly for safety reasons.
In the meantime, the airasia Super App offers facilities like airasia food, airasia grocer and other lifestyle services.
“We hope to offer the cheapest rates by offering a fair price mechanism for the benefit of the driver and consumer,” added Lim Chiew Shan.
He also added that airasia ride is expected to expand to Johore, Malacca, Seremban, Sabah and Sarawak soon.
