Hotelier Adrian Chua is among the few Malaysians who served in the hospitality industry in Wuhan, China, the epicentre of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He was then the general manager of Shangri-La Wuhan and went through the arduous experience of the lockdown from 2018 to 2021.

“The experience was something never expected and new, however I am glad we managed to pull through and return home,” he said to Penang Hyperlocal in Langkawi.

He is now the general manager of the Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah on the paradise island of Langkawi.

His journey in the hospitality industry starts from humble beginnings as a bellboy way back in Johor Bahru.

His burning desire to succeed in the hospitality industry led him to pursue a Diploma in Hotel & Catering Management from KDU College.

He then followed up with his credentials and recently completed his Masters in Business Administration from University Tun Abdul Razak.

His experience in China also brought him to other big cities like, Beijing, Qingdao, Xian, Fuzhou, Futian, Shenzhen among other locations.

In his present position as the general manager of the Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah by Marriott International, he has excelled in bringing great customer experience at the property.

Most of the guests are from Arab countries, Singapore, Europe and locals.

The 4-star facility offers 209 chic and trendy rooms along with a myriad of activities for the kids and also adults from the kids club, art activities, Nook Restaurant, infinity pool, gym and more.

Adrian’s primary goal is to ensure the hotel’s talents enjoy and bring their passion to the job, as he strongly believes that this joy will be reciprocated in delighting guests.

With the hotel a popular choice for travelers looking for a laidback island break, another target is to be in the Top 5 list of Langkawi hotels on TripAdvisor.

The hotel also played host to the “Out of Town” for the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) led by their president Datin Christina Toh and her board members.

Chua is also mindful of his duties to the community and volunteers in Persatuan Kebajikan Persatuan Hotel Malaysia (PHM), a non-profit organization that consists of over 420 hospitality members throughout South East Asia mainly in China, Hong Kong, Macao and Malaysia.
