International buyers and delegates at the Penang International Travel Exchange (PITE) 2023 were hosted to a Networking Night@Hin Bus Depot with fine Penang fare and live band performance.

After a long day of B2B sessions at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, the gathering was truly a well deserved break.

The international buyers were from Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Germany, Latvia, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

Welcoming the delegates was Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau’s chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran and his team.

The Hin Bus Depot with its colourful history served to be a perfect venue for the gathering as guests mingled and got to know each other better.

Among the highlights on the menu were local delights like roast lamb, satay, Char Koay Teow, Hokkein Mee, Nasi Kandar, Chendol, Pani Puri among others

To add some music to the evening, popular local band, The Acidic Bunch  dished out numbers in English, Malay, Chinese and also Hindi.much to the delight of the delegates.

The depot was built by Hin Company Ltd, one of the many private bus companies that sprang up following the Second World War, on what was then known as Brick Kiln Road.

Completed in 1947, it was used to house and service the iconic blue buses that travelled from George Town to Tanjung Bungah and Teluk Bahang.

The venue is now a vibrant location for lifestyle activities like music, arts, culture, dining, exhibitions and other community projects.
