It was a heartwarming morning of laughter and excitement as about 100 children, accompanied by 20 caretakers, enjoyed a special movie treat courtesy of the Lions Club of George Town at TGV Cinemas, First Avenue.

The children, hailing from the Selfless Together School and Bright Sparks Learning Centre, Hong Seng Estate, were all smiles as they arrived for this eagerly awaited outing. To make the day even more memorable, each child received a goody bag filled with snacks and treats to enjoy during the show.

This joyful initiative is part of the Lions Club’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, a cherished tradition that reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to serving the community and spreading kindness.

On hand to personally welcome the children were Club President Dato’ Gulab Mahatam Rai, Immediate Past President Andrew Choong, Past President Peter Chung, Anthony Chow, Kenji Tan, and several other dedicated members. Their presence underscored the club’s spirit of fellowship and service.

Events like these remind us of the power of simple gestures to bring happiness and hope to young hearts. Kudos and heartfelt congratulations to the Lions Club of George Town for continuing to host such meaningful and impactful community events.

Recently, the club had also extended its generosity by hosting children from several charitable homes for a Deepavali get-together lunch at the North Malaysia Malayali Samajam.

The festive celebration was filled with joy, food, music and cultural camaraderie, reflecting the club’s mission to foster inclusivity and compassion during the season of light.
