The newly created “Roti Gulung” is the latest craze at the Restoran Nasi Kandar Pokok Ketapang along Hutton Lane in Georgetown, Penang.
It comes with a choice of chicken, sardine or beef filling. It is actually a hybrid of the regular roti canai but filled with more tasty ingredients.
Priced at RM6 per plate, the ingredients are egg, cheese, roti canai, ghee, curry leaves and a rich spoonful of hot curry.
The dish was created by co-owner of the popular restaurant, Nazir Hussein Mohd Jameel, 40, who has been experimenting with various combinations to create the dish.
“I had to try out several combinations of ingredients before settling on theĀ final product. I am happy thatĀ it has been well received from our regulars, visitors to Penang and also tourists,” said Nazir to Penang Hyperlocal.
The restaurant was founded in 1957 and also has its own following among nasi kandar enthusiasts.
They also offer other choices of roti balut cheese, roti balut with roti benggali) with egg, nasi lemak telur goyang and roti tsunami.
