The Light Hotel Penang in Seberang Jaya has lined up a tempting array of dishes for guests to partake in.
The Year of the Tiger will see the lavish spread of local and international cuisine and a variety of seafood makes it an ideal venue for reunion dinner and festivity dining sessions.
The hotel’s Chef H’ng Wee Kiang with 32 years of experience in Chinese cuisine and his team will cook up a storm to prepare a feast that will satiate the palate and tantalize the taste buds completely.
The ‘Kuai Le’ CNY Reunion Buffet Dinner at The Light Grand Ballroom features Yee Sang, magnificent and auspicious poon choi, a generous spread of seafood, exquisite Asian and Western cuisine as well as other specialities from around the world priced at RM138+ per person.
There will be entertainment all night and a special appearance of ‘God of Prosperity’ during the dinner.
This sumptuous festive buffet spread includes seafood on ice – fresh catch of succulent juicy prawns, scallop and crab.
here are 10 types of salad and appetizers, smoked salmon platter, 7 choices of homemade dim sum, whereas Nyonya station specialties are Nyonya Spicy Tamarind Prawn, whole fish nyonya style, 3-flavor squid, ikan pepes and pie tee with Jiu Hu Char.
Main course ranging from crispy Kam Heong prawn, wok-fried crab coated with oat flakes, deep-fried crispy chicken with mango sauce, steamed fish filet with supreme soy sauce, BBQ chicken wings, chicken rice, chicken char siew, roasted duck and poached herbal chicken.
Their famous lotus rice will also be served too. Selection of soups include Chinese traditional black chicken herbal soup and crabmeat soup.
The highlight for this year is roast Pipa duck. Pipa is an instrument as well as a style of food preparation. Actually, Pipa duck was named for its resemblance to the Chinese string instrument.
Arguably crispier than Peking duck, Pipa duck is splayed open before being roasted; increasing the bird’s surface area produces an extra crunchy exterior.
Western delight features are seafood Pomodoro, chicken & potato pie, pasta and on carvery station – grilled lamb shoulder, braised daikon and spicy eggplant mint mash and not to be missed is the whole lamb with condiments will be another specialty.
Also featuring the signature dishes like not to be missed is shawarma, chicken biryani alongside butter chicken masala and some tandoori assortments.
Yee Sang with Salmon and condiments will also be available on the buffet counter but if you prefer an a la carte order of Prosperity Poon Choi or Treasure Pot it’s also available at RM688+ per serving.
Ready-to-serve action counters vary from noodle station, chef’s specialty char koay teow, longevity noodle soup and Hokkien mee, chicken/duck rice stall, ice kacang and ice cream, naan bread corner.
Dessert Corner serves assorted cakes – orange mousse cake, mandarin orange cake, marble cheese cake, French pastries, puddings, traditional Chinese butter cake, Shanghai pan cake, tong yuan soup, cookies and the list goes on.
