Kuala Lumpur based illusionist and magician, Mahdi Moudini was elated to receive his eighth Merlin award in a ceremony at the Social Restaurant & Bar recently.
On hand to present the most sought after award was the president and chief executive officer of the International Magician Society (IMS) Tony Hassini from the United States.
Also present at the glamorous ceremony were many family and friends.
The award carries with it the title of “Hollywood Star Illusionist 2019”.
“No artist in this industry has received this record number of Merlin awards. It is a great honour for me to present this award to Mahdi for his endless and untiring work”, said Hassini.
He also added that being an illusionist is no easy feat as it requires much discipline and long hours of hard work.
Mahdi, in his acceptance speech thanked his family for their understanding and support in all his endeavors.
“Without their encouragement and backing, I would not have come so far in my career.
“I also thank my friends and supporters who have been appreciative of my illusions and new tricks,” he said.
Mahdi also received the Grand Master Illusionist of 2019 by McMillan Woods Global earlier this year.
Guests at the ceremony also had the chance to witness some new illusions created by Mahdi up close.
Among the highlights of Mahdi’s career include performing for several Malaysian prime ministers and dignitaries along with the King of Swaziland.
IMS has some 41,000 members all over the world and was founded in 1968 and is based in United States of America.
Other renowned recipients of the award are David Copperfield, Criss Angel, Siegfried, Tabarary, Jeff McBride and Bill Malone.
