Following the successful completion of the initial phase of works for the elevated U-turn in early September, IJM Land Berhad (“IJM Land”), the master developer of THE LIGHT Waterfront Penang, wishes to inform the public of the upcoming lane closures and traffic diversions along the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway.
To facilitate the next phase of construction works for the elevated U-turn, the median-side rightmost lanes in both directions — George Town-bound and Bayan Lepas-bound — will be temporarily closed as follows:
• Closure Period: 12 October 2026 to 28 February 2027
• Affected Area: Median-side rightmost lanes along the George Town-bound and Bayan Lepas-bound carriageways of the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway (please refer to the areas marked in
red in the attached document)
The lane closures and traffic diversions are necessary to provide a safe working area for the construction of the next phase of the elevated U-turn. Upon completion, the elevated U-turn will complement the Air Itam Bypass, contributing towards improved traffic connectivity and flow along the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead, follow the directional signage and exercise caution when approaching the affected area.
