Some 350 guests from as far as Singapore, Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur came together in Penang for an evening of fellowship, generosity and, most importantly, giving back to those in need.
The occasion was the annual fundraiser of the Persatuan Kebajikan Setia Ikhlas Pulau Pinang (PKSIPP), held at the Berjaya Penang Hotel in Pulau Tikus. Representatives from 10 charitable homes across Penang also joined the gathering, underscoring the evening’s shared commitment to supporting the less fortunate.
Presiding over the event was PKSIPP president Dato Aloysius Gasper and his team, who welcomed guests and thanked sponsors, supporters and well-wishers for their generous contributions.
In his opening address, Aloysius said every contribution, big or small, would make a meaningful difference to those facing hardship.
“Your kind gesture will go a long way to help needy people and families,” he said.
Adding to the spirit of giving, guest of honour YB Jagdeep Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister II of Penang, who was unable to attend due to work commitments, contributed RM20,000 towards the worthy cause.
The evening also showed that fundraising can be both meaningful and enjoyable. Guests were treated to an energetic performance by Kowloon-era dancers dressed in colourful costumes, while several rounds of lucky draws helped raise additional funds.
The generosity continued with an auction of art pieces, with guests enthusiastically bidding to support the charitable cause.
After the fundraising activities, the formalities gave way to celebration as guests took to the dance floor, enjoying favourite numbers performed by the live band and DJ.
Beyond the music, food and festivities, the evening served as a reminder of the power of community, bringing people together from near and far with a common purpose: to lend a helping hand to those who need it most.
