The High School Bukit Mertajam Alumni Malaysia has embarked on a new chapter following the recent Annual General Meeting, which saw the election of a new leadership team entrusted with steering the association into the future.
The new National Executive Committee (NEC), comprising a dynamic blend of experience and fresh perspectives, has pledged to bring renewed energy, greater inclusiveness and a stronger sense of fraternity to the Alumni.
With vision and ambition, the new team is set to pursue its mission of taking the Alumni to greater heights while strengthening the bond among former students and encouraging greater participation from alumni across Malaysia and around the world.
The new leadership will also play an important role in supporting the HSBM 100th Anniversary celebrations, working closely with the Centenary Celebration Working Committee, which has been actively planning and organising programmes since 2025 in the lead-up to the historic Grand Finale in 2027.
The Centenary celebrations are expected to be more than just a commemoration of 100 years of HSBM. They represent an opportunity for generations of former students to return to their alma mater, reconnect with old friends, rekindle memories of their school days and celebrate the enduring legacy of the institution.
The NEC is extending an open invitation to all alumni and alumnae, regardless of age or where they are currently based, to come forward and be part of this significant milestone.
The message is simple — HSBM has given generations of students an education, friendships, values and memories that have remained with them throughout their lives. The Centenary provides an opportunity for former students to give something back and contribute towards ensuring that the legacy of HSBM continues for generations to come.
“This is not just about celebrating our past. It is about coming together as one HSBM family, giving back and helping to shape the future of our Alumni and our school,” is the spirit behind the renewed effort.
The Alumni is also encouraging former students to stay connected through its official Facebook and WhatsApp platforms, where information on upcoming activities, Centenary programmes and opportunities for participation will be shared regularly.
As HSBM approaches its historic 100th anniversary, the call from the Alumni is for former students to come home, reconnect and be part of a celebration that promises to bring generations of the HSBM family together.
