The 5-star 1926 Heritage Hotel Penang along Burmah Road held its grand launch ceremony presided by Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow.
The hotel had undergone a RM20 million renovation to offer a fresh new look and comfortable accommodation.
Also present was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai along with Dato Frank Koay, owner of 1926 Heritage Hotel Penang, Mondi Mecja, Country General Manager, Ascott Malaysia, Ms Angelina Lazuardi, General Manager of 1926 Heritage Hotel, Dato A. Rajendran, Mayor of Penang Island City Council, Dr Annuar Mohamed, Penang MOTAC Director, Ooi Chok Yan, Chief Executive Officer, Penang Global Tourism (PGT) and other VIP guests.

Chow performed the ribbon cutting ceremony.to mark the grand opening of the hotel and expressed his pleasure to attend the grand launch ceremony.
“I was here in September 2024 when we announced that this property would undergo a RM20 million refurbishment and be managed by The Ascott Limited. Penang’s heritage is one of our greatest strengths. As we continue to develop the state, we must all preserve the buildings and places tht make Penang unique.
“We often announce investments in Penang, every announcement reflects the investor’s confidence in our state. but announcements alone are not enough. What matters once again is whether these investments create jobs, support local businesses, generate opportunities for Penangites and improve people’s lives,” he reminded.

In conclusion he also commended 1926 Heritage Hotel Penang as a good example to preserve our heritage, create employment and strengthen the tourism industry.
