The launch ceremony for the K-Beauty Expo and the 2025 K-MediTech Expo was held at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC), showcasing the latest innovations and technologies that advance beauty and healthcare through both traditional care and modern science.

The three-day event was officiated by YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, together with a distinguished lineup of dignitaries.

Among those present were Hong Sang-woo, Ambassador of International Relations of Gyeonggi Province, Korea; Lee Jae-Yul, President of the Korea International Exhibition Center; YB Connie Tan, Assemblywoman for Sri Delima; Dato’ Khoo Boo Lim, Board Director of the Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau; Ms. Dawn Tan, Chief Operating Officer of Perennials Holding Private Limited (Singapore & Regional); Dato’ Ir. Khoo Teck Chong, Senior General Manager of IJM Land Northern Region; and Dominic Oh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of KinMalaysia Management Sdn Bhd, operator of the PWCC.

In welcoming delegates from South Korea, Wong highlighted that PWCC is operated by KinMalaysia Management Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of KINTEX (Korea International Exhibition Centre).

“The management team brings internationally renowned expertise, ensuring world-class convention services in Penang. Today is not only the official opening of PWCC but also a momentous day as it hosts its first international exhibition—the K-Beauty Expo Malaysia 2025,” he said. “This marks the Malaysian debut of Asia’s leading beauty trade exhibition, held in close collaboration with the Government of Korea.”

Wong noted that the expo brings together top Korean and global brands, featuring the latest in skincare, cosmetics, haircare, nail care, and wellness. The event highlights cutting-edge innovations and global trends such as clean beauty, sustainable packaging, and smart skincare technology—reflecting Korea’s leadership in the beauty industry.

He added that the exhibition also marks the first Malaysian edition of Korea’s prominent medical technology and healthcare innovation showcase.

“K-MediTech Expo Malaysia 2025 focuses on advanced medical devices, diagnostic technologies, digital healthcare solutions, and hospital management systems, demonstrating Korea’s leadership in medical innovation. The exhibition aims to strengthen collaboration between Malaysia, Korea, and regional healthcare industries, promoting complementary strengths and mutual progress.”

The expo brings together medical professionals, researchers, policymakers, and healthcare investors, providing a multidisciplinary platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Technology showcases, seminars, and business-matching programmes were organized to encourage partnership-building and future opportunities.

Wong further emphasized that K-MediTech Expo Malaysia 2025 enjoys strong support from the Government of Korea, underscoring the deepening Malaysia–Korea partnership in medical technology and healthcare innovation.

Following the ceremony, guests toured PWCC’s promenade and surrounding facilities before adjourning for lunch.
