A whopping RM175,864 was raised for the Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital Penang from the Langkawi Big Golf Weekend held in February at the prestigious Els Club Teluk Datai in Langkawi.

This annual tournament, now in its fourth year, has grown in popularity attracting both amateur and professional golfers who come together not just for the love of the sport but also to contribute to a meaningful cause.

The tournament continues its long-standing tradition of supporting healthcare and community welfare initiatives.

Participants were accommodated at the stylish Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah where the lobby and coffeehouse were buzzing with excitement each morning as golfers grabbed a quick breakfast before heading to the greens.

Aside from the tournament, golfers and their families indulged in a variety of activities designed to showcase Langkawi’s natural beauty and vibrant nightlife. The event organizers arranged sunset cruise trips, singalong talent competitions and buffet dinners, ensuring that guests enjoyed a well-rounded experience beyond the fairways.

Some participants also took the opportunity to explore Langkawi’s nightlife with Rockafellers being a popular choice for live music and entertainment.

The Langkawi Big Golf Weekend first teed off in 2019 initiated by a group of passionate golf enthusiasts who wanted to combine sport with charity. Over the years, the event has been held at some of Malaysia’s most scenic courses with Langkawi becoming the preferred location due to its breathtaking landscapes and world-class golf facilities.

The tournament has also garnered a reputation for fostering international friendships, with participants from Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia returning year after year.

The event concluded with a grand prize-giving ceremony where top-performing golfers were recognized for their skills and sportsmanship. As the sun set on another successful edition of the Langkawi Big Golf Weekend, players and organizers alike reflected on the camaraderie, competition, and charitable impact that have made this event a highlight on the golfing calendar.

With its continued success, the tournament is expected to return in 2026, further cementing Langkawi’s status as a premier golfing destination.
