Penang Deputy Chief Minister II YB Jagdeep Singh Deo represented Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow at the 65th birthday reception of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan held at the E&O Hotel here recently.
The invitation was extended by the Japanese Consul-General in Penang Mr. Machida Shinya.
“With more than 100 Japanese companies in operation in Penang and a community of 2,600 Japanese expatriates living here, Penang-Japan relations will only soar further as we continue our cooperation in business, trade, human talent development and STEM programmes.
“We will continue with our efforts in ensuring our bilateral ties with Japan will only grow further to benefit our people, said Jagdeep.
Guests from all sectors of the industry made their presence. They were also treated to a fine dinner and entertainment and get an insight of Japanese culture during the evening.
