Living up to its status as a food haven in the country, Penang welcomed another new restaurant – the Damas Arabic Restaurant.
Present to officially launch the diner was the Governor of Penang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak who graced the opening located along Burma Road here.
He pressed a button to light up the restaurant and signed the plaque to mark the official opening.
Guests were also treated to several traditional dances during the gala ceremony.
On hand to welcome the governor was Tan Sri Dato Ramesh (managing director of the Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd and Penang Mayor Dato A. Rajendran and their respective team members.
Others present were present to mark the special occasion was Dato KK Sihabutheen Kirudu Mohamed (Executive director Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd), Dato’ Uswath Khan Kirudu Mohamed, Naresh Ramesh (Director The Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd) and Sharath Ramesh (Director The Light Hotel (M) Sdn Bhd), Amro Oughly (CEO Damas Kitchen Sdn Bhd), Ammar Syahmi Abdullah (Director Damas Kitchen Sdn Bhd) among others
The Damas Arabic Restaurant specialises in authentic Arabian food and desserts.
Among their popular dishes are Nasi Arab, Damas Kebab, Mandy Kambing Golek, Shawarma, Falafel, Hummus, Fattoush, Fatteh, Baklava among other mouth-watering dishes and desserts.
Their Executive chef Amjad Karkazan comes with 27-years experience in the culinary industry.
Starting his career in 1997, he had served in the culinary industry in Syria and Malaysia serving in major hotels and resorts.
They also have an alfresco area for diners to enjoy their meals with a view of the surroundings.
In view of the up-coming Ramadan month, Damas Arabic Restaurant has prepared its special line up of dishes for breakfast.
From March 2 till March 30, 2025, they offer their “The Souq Dubai” themed buffet. It is priced at RM118 (adult), RM68 (child) respectively. The early bird promotion is at RM98 (adult) and RM59 (child) accordingly.
