By V. Sivaji Pos Malaysia celebrated its 50th retail outlet opening with the launch of its Dato Keramat latest retail store here yesterday afternoon.

Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow was on hand to launch the store along with Charles Brewer, Group CEO of Pos Malaysia and his team.

In his address Chow congratulated Pos Malaysia on their new store opening.

“Pos Malaysia has had a deep connection with Penang, with deep roots dating back to the 1800s. The first post office in Malaysia was established here in Penang, marking the beginning of a rich legacy in shaping the nation’s postal services.

“A testament to this history is one of the oldest post boxes dating back to the British Colonial
era, which remains on top of Penang Hill today.

“Matter of fact, my own office (Penang Chief Minister Office) consumes your products and services. Letters and documents, if any, that are required to be in hard copies are among those sent via Pos Malaysia. Though, we are concurrently ushering in digitalization especially within the
government, postal services are deemed as more reliable and safer. Therefore, if you are asking me, I would prefer hard copy documents rather than viewing it on my tablet”, said Chow.

Meanwhile, the store which spans over 800 square feet, combines a fully operational post office with a cozy and welcoming retail space. It offers services such as parcel drop, bill payments, mobile and e-wallet reloads, and a range of everyday essentials.

The outlet also features the popular Pos Kafe, where customers can enjoy freshly brewed coffee and light ‘ready-to-eat’ snacks. This innovative ‘Shop in Shop’ concept revitalises traditional post offices into versatile retail spaces, creating a welcoming environment where customers can shop, relax, and complete their daily errands – all under one roof.

Chow later toured the new shop along with Brewer and his team.
